Artcast Inc. Wins the Fine-Art Casting Contest category at the ICI 2017 Technical Conference and Equipment Expo.
Last week Erich Knoespel attended the Investment Casting Institute’s 64th annual Technical Conference and Equipment Expo in Covington Ky. One element of the conference is a Casting Contest. The Casting Contest awards were designed and cast at Artcast. This year we submitted work into the contest in the fine-art category. Both pieces submitted were produced from 3D printed originals, cast in Silicon Bronze, and received a Patina. One piece’s complexity came from the inability to produce waxes from a mold due to complex inner structures. The other piece is an educational sculpture that’s used to demonstrate some of our process capabilities. We are happy to announce that we were the Fine-art Category Casting contest winner and Fine-art Finalist. The winning piece used our make-hollow process for creating hollow castings from solid originals. We would like to thank our crew, the ICI Awards Committee, and The ICI for the honour of receiving this award. We would also like to thank Blake Ward for allowing us to submit his work into the Casting Contest.
